The Creston Valley Den Society

Current Programming

Ongoing as of Summer, 2025

The Daily Den Drop-In is a grassroots initiative in Creston offering vital support to unhoused and marginally housed individuals. Open six days a week at Trinity United Church, the Drop-In provides a warm, welcoming space where people can access hot meals, sandwiches, and food to go, as well as outdoor survival gear, clothing, hygiene supplies, and harm reduction materials. In addition to meeting immediate physical needs, the Den acts as a connection point for essential social and health services, linking guests with supports such as medical care, social development programs, housing assistance, and more. The environment is intentionally respectful, climate-controlled, and focused on dignity and safety.

Operating without government funding, the Den relies entirely on a patchwork of community donations, local partnerships, small grants, and an army of volunteers. Support from the Trinity Treasures Thrift Store, Community Action Initiatives, and the United Church’s “Seeds of Hope” fund has helped secure a kitchen and outreach staffing, while contributions from groups like ANKORS East, local food vendors, and compassionate individuals make daily operations possible. Volunteers contribute everything from meal prep and sandwich-making to fundraising and advocacy. Despite this generosity, the future of the Den remains uncertain without sustainable funding. Community members are encouraged to donate, spread the word, and advocate for long-term solutions such as a permanent shelter funded by BC Housing.
