The Creston Valley Den Society exists to serve, with dignity, the unhoused and marginally housed in our community.

Through access to emergency or transitional housing, programs and education, and fostering a supportive community, we can provide a road to safety and hope.

Safety:

Seek non-judgmental methods of providing local access to shelter, food, and a supportive environment.

Dignity:

Treat all people as equals regardless of circumstances.

Opportunity:

Offer programs for clients to enhance their quality of life wherever possible.

Community:

Actively combat stigma and stereotypes.

Connection:

Building trust through transparency, open communication, and compassion.

Inclusion:

Commitment to working in ways which are respectful of human rights, diversity, and self-determination.

Partnership:

Promoting positive relationships and working in collaboration with community, other agencies, and levels of government.

History

March – June, 2024

TOC proposes downtown shelter location. Refused by BC Housing, Den Society, and downtown businesses. Proposal withdrawn.

TOC press release commits to working with BC Housing & CVDS.

Creston Valley Den Society (CVDS) strikes new board, becomes official non-profit.

Join the Creston Valley Den Society

The Creston Valley Den Society has a large group of people who consider themselves part of our Friends of the Den Group. When we have meetings, our invite goes out to this larger group. We send out regular updates on our activities, progress, volunteering needs, and more.
