On Saturday, June 27, 2026 the Creston Valley Pride Society held its first Pride celebration held within Town limits.
A spokesperson for the Pride Society said the event went very well indeed.
“Both the day time event and the after party were a massive success! We had members of Spokane Pride, Bonners Pride, and Sandpoint Pride that came. We had people travel from.the US and all over the Kootenays to come. It was a fantastic first Pride event held within town limits and went off without a hitch.”
The Society also posted on social media, thanks the Town of Creston for their support.
“We would like to extend a very special and heartfelt thank you to the Town of Creston, our mayor, and council.
“We were deeply grateful to see the public proclamation from Mayor and Council declaring June as Pride Month in Creston this year. This proclamation honors five decades of progress toward equity and equal rights for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, while also acknowledging the ongoing challenges and lived experiences of queer people here in our community.
“We are incredibly proud to live in a town where the Pride flag has now flown at Town Hall for three years in a row. These visible acts of progress, recognition, and inclusion matter. They send a clear message of belonging, respect, and continued growth.”
